The end of Hindenburg 3, Lakehurst, 6-5-1937, KEYSTONE

Description :

Unique vintage print coming directly from the KEYSTONE fund.

The LZ 129 Hindenburg, built by the German firm Zeppelin, was the largest commercial airship ever made. It operated the regular Europe-United States line. Its maiden flight took place on March 4, 1936 in Germany. After 14 months of service, it was destroyed by fire on May 6, 1937 when it landed at Lakehurst in New Jersey. This tragedy precipitated the end of the era of large airships.
