Nautical jousting at the Lido, 1932, KEYSTONE

Nautical jousting at the Lido, 1932, KEYSTONE

Description :

Unique vintage print coming directly from the KEYSTONE fund.

November 8, 1932: nautical jousting at the Lido.
Originally located before the Second World War, 78 avenue des Champs-Élysées, the Lido is a place of entertainment and swimming for the privileged social classes. The decoration is inspired by Venice and its famous Lido beach, which enjoyed a great fashion in the Belle Époque under the name of "La Plage de Paris".
In 1933, following a compulsory liquidation, the establishment closed. In 1936, Léon Volterra took over the management and replaced the swimming pool with a performance hall.
