Very beautiful signed copy, as new after 50 years!

Marc Riboud ( 1923-2016 ) was born near Lyon and he participates in the fights of the resistance anti-Nazi in Vercors in 1944. After studies of engineer he decides to dedicate itself to the photography and in 1953 he obtains his first publication in the magazine Life for his photography of a painter of the Eiffel Tower. At invitation of Henri Cartier-Bresson and of Robert Capa, he became associate member of the agency Magnum.

During a journey in India, Marc Riboud meets a french diplomat as well as a chinese writer Han Suyin who helped to obtain a visa for almost impenetrable China for the westerners people. He will return in China in 1965 with the journalist K.S. Karol before producing this book.

Cloth hardcover under color illustrated dustjacket. 216 pages and numerous black and white mainly photograph but also in color accompanied with detailed legends. Foreword by Han Suyin.
