Marc RIBOUD : 50 ans de photographie. 1 st ed.. 2004 SIGNED

Description :

Very fine signed copy, as new.

Marc Riboud ( 1923-2016 ) was born near Lyon and he participates in the fights of the resistance anti-Nazi in Vercors in 1944. After studies of engineer he decides to dedicate itself to the photography and in 1953 he obtains his first publication in the magazine Life for his photography of a painter of the Eiffel Tower. At invitation of Henri Cartier-Bresson and of Robert Capa, he became associate member of the agency Magnum.

This work, published on the occasion of the exhibition of the European House of the Photography of 2004, redraws the route of a look always on the alert and renews our knowledge of the work of this photographer over a half a century of activity without giving in however to the chronology. The book redraws in particular his numerous travels worldwide (in particular China, Vietnam, India, Algeria, Ghana, Afghanistan and Turkey) and on some great moments of hiscareer of which we had strong images as the famous photography of a demonstrator presenting a flower to soldiers, taken in October, 1967, during one demonstration against the Vietnam War. The deep humanity of Marc Riboud and its capacity to seize the moment characterizes the work of this great artist..

Hardback with illustrated dusjacket. 176 pages, 140 photos in black and white. Robert Delpire's foreword, Texts of Annick Cojean, Marc Riboud and Catherine Chaine, detailed legends of photos at the end of work with miniature reproductions.
