Very complete and very well documented cataloge upon a creative photographer, published for an exhibition which is successively kept in San Francisco, Detroit and Los Angeles from December 13th, 1991 till February 16th, 1992.
Florence Henri, born in New York in 1893 of a french father and a german mother, lived in different european capitals in Paris, Rome, Berlin as well as in England and, after studies of piano, she will dedicate itself at first to the painting and she was influenced by the work of Fernand Léger and André Lhote, creating works of Cubist, constructivist, futuristic and surrealist inspiration. After she dedicate at the photography in Paris after 1929. The use of mirrors, superimposing and overprints process, effects of combinaition, structation by clear and dark, permutation of the black and the white, geometrical accentuation of the forms, all this allows her to realize abstract compositions, to emphasize unusual points of view and to explore new possibilities of expression of the photography.
It should be noted that an exhibition on Florence Henri works will take place in Paris in 2015 to the Museum of the Jeu de Paume from February 24th till May 17th.
