MM & JFK

Just 5 letters everybody knows.
There is not Top List of the most photographed people , but this couple could be in the first place.
- A black back armchair, 75% of the image and a small metal plate inscribed: THE PRESIDENT JAN 20 1961.
- A black and white portrait, barred of a broad orange cross.
Two photographic images, at the same time Art and History.
Which will be the next initials in 50 years?

PARIS FOLIE...

In this month of the Photography festival in Paris, dead leaves and records are falling together. The success of the prestigious Brassaï sale is the most perfect example.
Beyond the millions generated by these 3 sales and which are in all your newspapers, it is more interesting to analyze the changes and the key factors of this success.

- An extraordinary catalog with masterpieces and all the work of a life.
- A really splendid exposure allowing everyone to admire with dignity all these works and not a display on the run…
- A setting in scene of the 3 sales: act 1: Art, act 2: Day, act 3: Night.

On the D-day, a large public and to a great extent nonfamiliar with these kind of sales. Thus, many photographs were bought by new amateurs not necessarily wealthy.

Silver photography had just lived rich and beautiful hours, thank you Mr Brassaï.

Good PARIS PHOTO to everyone.

Arles 2006

Between two discussions on Photography at our stand, we nevertheless had time to see some exposures:

Gathered in the S.N.C.F. warehouses : Guy Le Querrec, Gilles Carron and Don McCullin, images shocks and portraits intimists, crash of wars or jazz clubs.

The American photographers French collection, from Adams to Weston, while passing by Evans, Harbutt, Klein, Levitt or Weegee…. and the dream to take them all at home…

David Goldblatt who, for more than 50 years, has taken pictures of the history of his country: South Africa.

Dominique Issermann, the only one to exceed the world of the luxury and fashion, and keeping only the black and white beauty of it.

Malik Nemji, a " photographer fallen from the sky " according to the expression of Raymond Depardon.

Thank you to all those which visited us and see you next year.
